Staff were poorly managed, and the decision not to allow the national guard in to protect the building, was really bad. Also, people should never have been pushed to go down to the capital building. I watched live that day, and I felt we'd have had a better vote that day without the storming of the capital. The turning point, seemed to be Pence, and whilst people seem to hate the guy, at least he made a decision that was inline with his beliefs regardless of the consequence. We never really asked Pence whether this was what he wanted. I think forcing this on the guy was the wrong way to approach this, demanding that he take action when all the courts are completely against him leading up to this, and it was a no win situation.

If more time was needed for something as important as the office of the POTUS and election fraud, then so be it. Pence could have, and should, have suspended for another 10 days which was reasonable. Just watch it and tell me it didn't look fishy. I'm not saying she didn't die but holy shit was there some weird ass theatrics surrounding it.
The vibe makes it seem like a complete act, the most flippant actors assembled up front and worked hesitantly to cause damage while trying to get others to join in. Once the window was cleared and Ashley got popped (or not) the entire mission became telling people that the cops murdered a girl. Nobody was scared by what happened, nobody was actual mad about it, all efforts to continue causing damage halted and the only focus was either changing appearance or getting others outraged. Look I think what this is going to boil down to is some stupid orders given at some point in the day, which basically went like this. "If the door gets breached, shoot". Like perhaps on the other side of that door was an unknown situation of protected peoples, and the coincidence of their position, combined with the timing of the doors glass being breached, lead to a police officer on the ground taking the shot. They were clearly overwhelmed by this situation, and probably not well trained for this. Think about the worst thing that's ever happened at the capital prior to this day. Staff were poorly managed, and the decision not to allow the national guard in to protect the building, was really bad. Also, people should never have been pushed to go down to the capital building. I watched live that day, and I felt we'd have had a better vote that day without the storming of the capital. The turning point, seemed to be Pence, and whilst people seem to hate the guy, at least he made a decision that was inline with his beliefs regardless of the consequence. We never really asked Pence whether this was what he wanted. I think forcing this on the guy was the wrong way to approach this, demanding that he take action when all the courts are completely against him leading up to this, and it was a no win situation.
I can't defend Pence, or give him a pass. At least one state was asking for more time. There was no constitutionally set time line. If more time was needed for something as important as the office of the POTUS and election fraud, then so be it. Pence could have, and should, have suspended for another 10 days which was reasonable. The Republicans and Trump were out played in politics this time. Pence caved at a critical time. He failed to lead. His written statement admitted that there was fraud, then said he wasn't in a position to do anything about it. It was pure political waffling in a time when the country needed resolve. He was the ONLY person in a position to do something about it. He simply failed. There is no defense.
