These two movies are apparently iconic Russian films released in the late 90s made on a shoestring budget. During the Soviet era, films were made by state payed artist to make these really high level artsy fartsy movies and that all came crashing down with the end of the USSR, and this was one of the movies made specifically to appeal to the average Russia rather than some film critic because they actually had to focus on generating a profit now.

It was considered really crass and borish for its jabs at America, the west, post soviet Russia, foreigners, jews, and black people (second one takes place in Chicago) and was kinda ignored by the snobs, but its spoke some sort of truth to the russian people which propelled it into an instant cult classic. From what I understand, the main character Danila Bagrov is a sort of superhero like figure to Russians, kinda like a more moral Punisher.

great movies that give you a good insight into the Russian mindset and world view and I think there are a lot of themes that people in the MAGAsphere will really connect to.

Also, during a recent airing of the sequel on Russian TV, during the end credits where they play a famous song in Russia called "Goodbye America" they put in footage of the BLM riots.
