I don't NEED to "buy the rights." I just have to wait 11 years, and it becomes public domain. Duh.

The publisher realizes this book doesn't have much money-making potential at this stage, so it's happy to toss Seuss's genius into the fire to gain some PUBLICITY and Social Credits at his legacy's expense.
