Before things got real crazy with covid you could get in for about $150 to get started. Most of the major companies sell complete kits with entry level gear that you will probably end up replacing a lot off but it will get off the ground.
Best place to look to see if reloading is for you is too start watching Johnny's Reloading Bench, FortuneCookie45, and Ultimate Reloader on YouTube. Those guys have lots of info on their channels and do a great job breaking down the entire process. I would also highly suggest picking up a reloading manual or two. They have 99% of the recipes that you'll ever need and in the case of the Lee Manual they also do a fantastic job on how to do everything and do it safely.

Score some Hornady XTPs or Gold Dots and you can make some good self defense loads that will work in a pinch (for this factory is generally preferred but desperate times... you know). And your ammo will be far better quality if one takes the time.
