It’s kind of a self-selected sample though, because the stoners who are actually out doing something aren’t sitting at home on Reddit.

The “stoned slacker” stereotype is actually pretty rare. I’ve been smoking daily since I was 19 (for the most part) but still managed to graduate college with a 3.75GPA and did pretty good for myself career wise.

My biggest hurdles were passing the drug tests, lol.

I'm a late bloomer, didn't start smoking weed until I was in my 50s. I mean, I smoked it before, as a teenager but it made me "paranoid," so I rarely ever smoked. But chronic joint pain, DDD & arthritis, had me looking for relief that wasn't going to get me all strung out on narcotics or blow up my liver lie taking NSAIDs every day. After overcoming that "paranoia" (it's just the THC taking one's perception out of one's comfort zone) I found it a useful tool for chronic pain management and it's fun and I never would have been red-pilled without it. Note: I started smoking weed as a Bernie supporter and am now a daily smoker MAGA maniac.

The last time I tried smoking weed someone gave me sour candy after and I tasted the fucking sour outside my skin. never again for me, lol.

Oh wow, that's funny. I mean, I hope it wasn't too trippy. I don't know how I managed to overcome the "paranoia," I just told myself I was thinking thoughts & noticing things at a level I wasn't used to. It was cool at first, now it mostly makes me chatty or sleepy.

I'd smoked like once or twice before that and just gotten the giggles at stupid shit but that last one wasn't pleasant, heart rate went through the roof and it took like 6 hours to wear off. I'd rather just enjoy a beer or a couple fingers of scotch on the rocks on a friday night to unwind lol.

Idk if the stoner stereotypes are really rare... I used to be a stoner. I wasn't lazy. I was an active smoker who couldn't sit still while high.

I had to go for walks. Couldn't sleep until sober. It would keep me up.

With that said, my entire group of friends from highschool are still hardcore stoners. Every morning, all day, all night, all year for a decade.

They are mostly all losers. Started college, never finished, started again, never finished, doing it a third time...

Worked tons of dead end jobs, 26 still with dead end jobs, because they sent years not working at all just selling drugs.

To be fair, they got into hard drugs at different points in time, and I never touched much. I tried some things in life, but not like them, and never made a habit of any of that stuff.

But in my experience, a lot of stoners I know are losers. I know a lot of stoners who aren't losers either though!

And I don't blame the marijuana... I guess I'll just say, moderation is key. Those who cannot smoke marijuana in moderation, and get high before going to an important test or meeting as an adult... They are mostly losers.

I did that as a teenager. That's what teens do lol. But as an adult, you need to be smarter about being high at appropriate times, not when you need focus.

I wouldn't say it's rare, but a small portion of people who smoke weed. I'm 33 and it seems like most people will at least occasionally smoke a little weed. I only don't because I get intense anxiety and paranoia on it.
