Just because you should have the freedom to do something doesn't mean you should do something.
We need to fight for people's freedom but also discourage people from doing things that will harm themselves and society as a whole.
This is the same nuance that people miss when they say conservatives were just as authoritarian 30+ years ago as the liberals are today. The conservatives in the USA have always been on the side of freedom, but that doesn't mean they didn't speak out against cultural rot and immorality... the difference is conservatives [for the most part] didn't use the power of government to take away your right to do these things.
