Yes, $1400, and amount that will be worth $700, $140, $14 in the coming years as the Government continues to throw money around like it's going out of style and drive inflation all the way to Alpha Centauri.

If you put your money in crypto or stocks you at least have a chance of keeping what you own.

Bitcoin is sketchy in its own way. Sure, you could have got rich quick if you could tell the future on an arbitrary system of ones and zeros that some anonymous entity created on a computer so criminals could buy illegal substances. You could have also gotten rich by telling the future and investing in countless other options.

The issue is there is no backing to the currency. There are many who forgot the passwords to their wallets and have no way to gain access to lost fortune. China owns the majority of it so if the world accepts it, they have the majority of buying power. We don't know enough about the creator or what may happen with the currency in the future.

Finally, U.S. currency is basically the same thing, a virtual ledger. The only difference is that it has backing and can be forcibly manipulated. When the government gets desperate enough, they'll ban companies from accepting bitcoin transactions based on issues with taxing, tracking, etc. At that point Bitcoin only has it's initial value from 10 years ago, which is illegal transactions on the dark web. Basically worthless if you're not a criminal or interested in buying things on the black market through strangers on sketchy websites.

1
krzyzowiec 1 point ago +4 / -3

This is completely wrong. The backing for the currency is mathematics. It's no different than the encryption we use for e-commerce. If you do any online banking or buying and selling over the internet, then you trust that math enough to risk sending your wealth digitally.

There are many who forgot the passwords to their wallets and have no way to gain access to lost fortune.

You act like that's a bad thing. What this indicates is that only the person with the key can access the crypto. So unlike a bank, which you surely use, you actually possess the wealth yourself and no one but you can spend it (or lose it). If you bought gold and had someone secure it for you, then you are worse off than with this crypto that you could store securely on your own computer.

Finally, U.S. currency is basically the same thing, a virtual ledger. The only difference is that it has backing and can be forcibly manipulated.

The difference is that the US currency is actually backed by nothing but the word of the US government. That's why they can manipulate it and change the amount in circulation at will.

Except in reality, when they ban something, the value increases. Sure you won't be able to buy a Tesla with it anymore, but it won't stop people from holding it to protect themselves against inflation.

2
NullifyAndSecede 2 points ago +2 / -0

Backing refers to the idea that a currency is redeemable for some good at a fixed rate as used to be the case for US silver certificates.

In this sense, it's true that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have no backing.

Bitcoin is preferable to government fiat because it cannot be diluted by centralized mandates and does not rely on any given authority to operate.

12
MAGAsJustBegun 12 points ago +12 / -0

Yup. DO NOT keep money in the bank! Not savings at least.

With the way democrats want to artificially raise wages and cost of living, your savings will depreciate greatly in value.

I feel bad for those who saved $ their whole lives, just to see the possibility of their savings dip 50% in value over a single idea from Democrays.

As you said, invest in things that gain value along side inflation.

Gold and silver are good in my book. I think real estate is better, because let's say shit hits the fan.

Well, gold isn't too useful if the world fucks itself, is war torn, and all people want is a sack of rice, water, and ammunition.

That's where real estate is good, because EVERYONE needs a place to live!

Ammunition will be better than gold if shit happens.

Hell, those who invested in ammunition the past decade could sell for 5x+ what they paid a few years back!

I'm still buying at these insane prices, as I was not a customer before all this. The riots and mass violence scared me, as it was local to me in NY.

I drove down the street during some of our riots and looting, and saw mass looting first hand about 2 miles from my house.

My town borders a shit hole city. The town police kept out town completely safe and held it down! The city? Nope.

Although, even though we have a shit mayor, she accepted mass help from state police for the next night, and I drove through the city...

It was crazy! The quietest I've ever seen it in summer, quieter than when we have a true snow storm blizzard that's too dangerous to drive in!

Cops everywhere hiding, stationed every half mile with sirens flashing.

Hundreds of businesses blocked with vehicles, big rigs, ect. It was wild to see!

But all of that really showed me how quickly your life can be put in danger by randoms.

I had big Trump flags in front of my house on a busy main road in liberal NY.

Got tonssss of harassment. I took them down for the week during riots, as I didn't want to be an obvious target.

I put em back up afterword.

I even had a BLM cunt come to my house, and march in front back and fourth. Went out to yell at her, call the cops, ect.

She didn't break the law, but fuck that, she's coming to push my buttons.

If civil war happened, that shit would not be tolerated. They do things like this because they aren't afraid of us, and know we are peace loving people, who are not crazy, and will not hurt them for pushing our buttons.

That's what sling shots are for...someone is fucking around in front of your house? Go down the block...pop them with a few stingers...preferrably smooth pebbles as they won't penetrate...then dissapear around the back of the block into your back door.

2
Chuj 2 points ago +2 / -0

Real estate only has value if the government enforces your claim. If all goes to hell, them your claim is only as strong as your weaponry

2
MAGAsJustBegun 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is pretty naive honestly. Gold only holds value if people agree that it does, just like money. If there is a totally de valued dollar your crypto will be worth jack too. Especially in case of an EMP attack or infrastructure breakdown that holds the proof of even holding crypto.

Food will ALWAYS be valuable, because people have to eat.

That said, I'm glad you covered all the other bases before mentioning it.

2
FranzLiszt 2 points ago +2 / -0

Gold does have worth as a metal with tons of uses. That definitely gives it some value, plus the supply cannot be increased on the whim of a government so it is harder to devalue.

Once you cash that check, your household becomes federally funded. And the government now owns your ass. Too bad I cashed the first one without thinking about it that way.

3
NullifyAndSecede 3 points ago +3 / -0

Note that you need a glock locking block as well (the internal parts kits I got and rails didn't have this and it delayed my build)

15
Projectedsoulimage 15 points ago +16 / -1

How does cashing it mean the gov owns my ass? They take my money away. I'll take it back before they send it overseas or spend it on Dem cities.

The fed takes my money. Does that mean I own their ass?

I'm not following your logic.

6
MemeWarBoot 6 points ago +6 / -0

It 100% SHOULD mean you own their asses. Unfortunately the rot has spread quite far

1
LinWoodDidntKillHims 1 point ago +6 / -5

Think about it this way. If the government makes laws that are enforced on federally funded property or institutions such as mask mandates or no guns or any other bullshit they make up, well now your household is now federally funded if you accept the stimulus checks. And i know its outside the realm of normal rational thinking, but these are democrats and this is clown world. We have no rights if big brother says so.

2
NullifyAndSecede 2 points ago +3 / -1

Government is in reality established by the few; and these few assume the consent of all the rest, without any such consent being actually given.

― Lysander Spooner

6
LinWoodDidntKillHims 6 points ago +6 / -0

We can say that over and over again but the military will keep us in check. And yeah we can pretend the military is on our side but if dc has showed anybody anything. The government controls them not us. We need to stop pretending that they are just 500 defenseless people who are completely at our mercy. They are not. We are at their mercy. 7 trillion dollars of our money in a year just on stimulus bills. They are robbing us our children and grandchildren and we just bitch on the internet. I want a solution but don't know the solution. And war will only weaken us and leave a lot of us dead. Decentralization is our best bet but like i said the US government will not allow it to happen peacefully.

Of course consent is given. The constitution and the laws give clear path how to oppose the government . If you don't oppose it YOU CONSENT.

0
Projectedsoulimage 0 points ago +1 / -1

It's all hypothetical though, and if the gov wants to own you it won't matter whether you took the money or not. They'll find a way to do it.

What law or precept officially makes one government funded for receiving money from the feds? Don't we all do this with our tax rebates?

4
NullifyAndSecede 4 points ago +5 / -1

I’m almost convinced they (both parties) are trying to dig a deep enough debt hole so they can justify federal value added tax. Bailouts are a big reason why dems were desperate enough to cheat so blatantly. They couldn't let trump win and have blue states go bankrupt. California never even tried to get their finances in order. They knew the fix was in from the beginning and officially set their budget assuming a bailout after the election. The only way for red states to stop paying for blue state failures is secession. Otherwise it's going to be constant bailouts forever.

17
MAGAsJustBegun 17 points ago +20 / -3

I used to be VERY against living off of the system if it isn't absolute need.

Like, if you can work 60+ hours at McDonald's, I'd do that before going on the system.

Well, being in NYS, I had a change of heart. I hate where I live. I have no moral issue in n my head anymore to use the system lawfully to help myself out in life.

I don't lie to them at all. Work was very slow for me during corona stuff. But years ago, I would've found a way to do it alone, as that's what a MAN does!

I lost all respect for my state, and figure if they are gonna hand shit out, I might as well take it.

13
Seenev 13 points ago +13 / -0

The problem is that your blue state doesn't have the money to pay you, despite offering it. They give you money and then cry to the federal government that they are bankrupt and red states end up subsidizing you through bailouts.

11
MAGAsJustBegun 11 points ago +11 / -0

Yup. It's all a load of BS. As Ron Desantis said, bail outs should be fair, and based solely on population in this case.

Blue states did stupid shit, red states not so much, and because the blue states allowed billions in damage and economic failure, they get the most help? Bullshit!

thedonaldsomething 4 points ago +4 / -0

I remember reading about some process they used, I forget the name but I believe normally you need 60 votes but they did something to make it only a simple majority.

I THINK the catch of this process is that the Senators are allowed to vote on any amendments they want, where normally they just are voting on the entire bill.

I could be wrong about that 2nd part.

4
Qwertyuiop99 4 points ago +4 / -0

It’s reconciliation. And the catch is that they can only vote on aspects concerning taxing and spending policy for the government. That is why they couldn’t add the $15 minimum wage. But, any bill can have whatever amendments voted on

1
memechallenger33 1 point ago +1 / -0

They are using a reconciliation trick to get past filibuster.

How about we no longer pass massive omnibus bills. One bill with one law. Minimum wage? Get your own bill. Keystone? Get your own bill. Giving people back their own money (aka tax refund)? Get your own bill.

Treat it like a resume. Keep it to one to two pages.

Keep it to one to two pages.

8
Lysah 8 points ago +8 / -0

I like the idea, but the problem is that the government has to pass a lot of "janitorial" legislation. These spending bills often include hundreds of items for different government agencies that are more or less guaranteed passes, splitting them up into their own bills would take massive amounts of time even just to do the roll call and vote on them one by one, they'd never get anything else done. Personally I would love the government to never get anything done but seems I'm a minority on that.

10
Dtom13 10 points ago +10 / -0

Perhaps we could have a process by which that can happen, but any law with too much unrelated shit in it could be struck down by the courts.

Of course that presumes a functioning court, which we don't have.

7
Tread_not_on_me 7 points ago +7 / -0

Gov already does nothing, it would be beneficial cause it would slow down all the garbage they pass

2
Major_Nutt 2 points ago +2 / -0

These spending bills often include hundreds of items for different government agencies that are more or less guaranteed passes,

Then we need to take a look at those programs to see if they're really worth funding. I bet we can cut 90% at least.

1
waxonwaxoff87 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is my feeling. If you can’t defend it on its own, it shouldn’t get bundled and blanket passed. The janitorial votes I think keep once necessary expenses carried over each year without justification. Just like your family’s budget, it has to be justified each month.

4
Major_Nutt 4 points ago +4 / -0

One page maximum. If you can't explain why it's needed in that amount of space, it's not. Bills should also be published online immediately after they're drafted and put online for all Citizens to be able to look through and read, with the phone number for your senators and reps at the bottom of the page. Leave it online for a week then it can be voted on in the House or Senate.

3
waxonwaxoff87 3 points ago +3 / -0

An actual useful function of social media would be for politicians to post a copy of the legislation they vote for each time they vote. Transparency.

6
LiquidAsylum 6 points ago +6 / -0

How can you hedge your bets regarding a recession, is there something I can do with my limited amount of money or something I can do to prepare for a recession?

6
jubyeonin 6 points ago +6 / -0

Probably buy gold. Silver doesn't really move with gold or with the economy/market. It just had a random ass drop too.

5
newuser999 5 points ago +5 / -0

People are saying crypto, but crypto fell the last bear market. I don't know where to hedge against inflation except metals and a tad of crypto

2
thebest2020 2 points ago +3 / -1

How to hedge? Prepper style... keep a food journal of what you eat for few weeks and stock up on those items best you can.

Food inflation will hit first. Then obviously some good pair of boots or other things that are necessary.

At least when shit hits the fan you'll hopefully have a few months of buffer from it via this way.

I might be wrong but we all have our ways of thinking.

1
PensivePatriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

1
MLGS 1 point ago +1 / -0

6
GeneticsGuy 6 points ago +6 / -0

You can say that, but ultimately the reason the dollar goes up in value and has held its value is because the rest of the options suck.

People said this about Europe, and then they realized after the Greece mess that the Euro is propped up by tons and tons of countries that have their own insane amount of debt, worse % than the US in many cases, and they don't really have a true way to deal with the situation without relying on Germany, unlike the US who has the Federal Reserve. So, when the dollar was supposed to sink and the Euro was coming up, Greece happened and then trillions of dollar investments from other nations kept pouring in propping the dollar up.

To this day there isn't really a great solution otherwise. Ya, there might be problems and flaws with the dollar, but I still don't see it crashing in value anytime soon on the world market until a true competitor appears.

1
genghis_khek 1 point ago +1 / -0

Good to know

1
PensivePatriot 1 point ago +2 / -1

Bitcoin is that competitor, and the major financial institutions themselves are beginning to say so.

4
Spacestar_Ordering 4 points ago +4 / -0

If there are any necessary things you need to buy do it now. Eg. car or home repairs, stock up on non-perishables (even if the world doesn't end, it'll be nice to have lots of food on hand when it costs twice as much ins 6 months or a year).

Taxation is theft, purely and simply even though it is theft on a grand and colossal scale which no acknowledged criminals could hope to match. It is a compulsory seizure of the property of the State’s inhabitants, or subjects.

― Murray N. Rothbard

Inflation is taxation without legislation. — Milton Friedman

3
NotMyGovernor 3 points ago +3 / -0

Controlled and honestly reported inflation could actually be one of the most efficient and fairest forms of taxation of all

1
NullifyAndSecede 1 point ago +1 / -0

Without the demand that taxes be payed in dollars, I'd never touch their worthless paper again if I could avoid it.

The fact that taxes are required to be payed in dollars is one of the main reasons they retain any value at all.

Eliminating traditional taxation would turn any alternative currency (crypto, gold, silver etc...) into a way to legally avoid funding the State. I'd be all for this, but I don't think the government would allow it.

6
Arden 6 points ago +7 / -1

Yeah that did so well with drugs right?

2
patriotswinning 2 points ago +3 / -1

Drugs specifically? No, that did not work out well for the U.S.. But this is an apples to oranges comparison.

Crypto is uniquely dependent on power, Internet, and a secure and available blockchain. Anyone of those things the government can shut off in a heart beat. Hell, bitcoin mining (creating new bitcoins and participating in the exchange of bitcoin) takes an enormous amount of energy. Anyone mining it could be easily identified an shut down based on Internet activity and/or power consumption patterns.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/bitcoin-mining-energy-consumption/

If it's made illegal, I can promise you it will absolutely tank in value.

These amendments were passed by roll call. It is not a complete list because several were passed by 'voice vote', including at least one where a loud chorus of NAYS was heard and (lo and behold) it was announced as 'THE AYES HAVE IT'. Voice votes are despicable.

In particular Schumer dropped an unannounced amendment bomb at the very end just to prove to the world that he can drop in shit everybody will pass without demanding a full reading, and not be held in the contempt he deserves.

  • On the Amendment S.Amdt. 1391: Warner Amdt. No. 1391; To extend the authority for Federal contractors to reimburse employees unable to perform work due to the COVID-19 pandemic from March 31, 2021, to September 30, 2021.

They’re trying to tank the dollar to pay the debt. They will succeed.

The “Era of Gibs” will be the final nail in the coffin of America.

My leftist peers are so fucking sense that they actually believe that it’s free money that our benevolent government is bestowing on us.

This is why communism has taken root. People are so ignorant that they believe the government has the ability to make free lunches for everyone. As if things don’t have a cost basis to them and someone somewhere has to pay for it

The welfare state is the oldest con game in the world. First you take people's money away quietly and then you give some of it back to them flamboyantly.

Well, you might want to be really, really, really pissed that they're voting for 2 trillion dollars of our money, to be spent on things we don't want, and most of it will be spent on not us. Oh, but you might get a check for $1400, which will be worth way less when the inflation kicks in.

This is one of the biggest money grabs I've ever seen. The shamelessness is flabbergasting.

What's shameful is that people sit around and complain but do fuckall to stop it.

Pushed back? Do you not understand how legislation is drafted? This was approved by the Senate. Now it goes back to Congress, like all bills do, for a final round of negotiations and amendments. This is how it works. This is not pushed back on, it's on a fast track to being signed by Biden into law.

Not dooming, check my post history.

This will pass. I know who the pubs are in the House, and who will benefit from it.

This will pass. The money is already spent.

By the way, they don't need 60 votes.

https://www.brookings.edu/blog/up-front/2021/02/05/what-is-reconciliation-in-congress/

They need 60 with a filibuster. Learn how Congress works before 'correcting" people.

2
PaleoPopulist 2 points ago +2 / -0

They might not use it, though, in order to save it for a different bill.

0
FireannDireach 0 points ago +1 / -1

They're already using it.

It's a money laundering bill to pay the countries who helped rig the election.

I gladly accept them returning some of MY MONEY that they siphoned off over the last 25 years of my uninterrupted slave labor. Everyone who says iM nOt TaKiNg ThE bRIBe, are fucking stupid!! IT’S YOUR MONEY!!!!!

3
Urusovite 3 points ago +3 / -0

Except you won't be getting it because this time they said fewer Americans are getting it and you can bet illegals will be and all the liberal cities and companies needing bailouts for their idiocy. So enjoy the crumbs.

2
Magalandia 2 points ago +2 / -0

Again, I’ll take back anything that’s mine. Even the crumbs....while working towards not having to give them jack shit of mine. Also, we agree, fuck the government!

Republican Senator Dan Sullivan (AK) abandoned his post today - he went home and turned the vote over to the democrats. Had he stayed just 12 hours it would have forced Kamala to come out of hiding and cast the tie breaking vote, placing full responsibility over this $1.9 trillion dollar theft of our future right at her feet and those of the marxist authoritarian demorat party.

Buy precious metals, stock up on goods and prepare. The big hyper inflation economic tanking is just around the bend

3
WeaselMcConnel 3 points ago +3 / -0

GOP failed us again. It's almost as if failure is intentional.

Could it be??

Of course it is.

3
FireannDireach 3 points ago +3 / -0

Roll call is up. No pubs voted for it. Straight party line, we lost a vote because one Pub wasn't present.

Sullivan, and he was attending a funeral.

1
T_DforTrump2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

Couldn't he have had someone vote for him?

2
ukfan758 2 points ago +2 / -0

Proxy votes are only allowed in committee for the Senate iirc.

1
T_DforTrump2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

Oh ok. I wasn't sure either. You'd think for an important vote like this that they'd make sure everyone who has to vote could be there.

Sullivan (R-AK), Not Voting.

Fuck you, Sullivan.

If you didn't stick the knife, some other GOPer would have.

Notice how the GOP always fails by just 1 or 2 votes? It's all that's needed.

If they voted honestly, probably 2/3 of the GOP would vote in lockstep with the Dems.

400DollarHandcart 3 points ago +3 / -0

I hate them for doing this. The best thing that could have happened on Jan 6 was if the doors were chained shut, and the building set on fire. Vampires who are now feeding on our great grandchildren.

3
cheddar 3 points ago +3 / -0

They are gonna destroy the economy for their pet projects. Dumbass politicians.

2
MeloniaisMelons 2 points ago +2 / -0

They're doing it because they don't like progressive policy either and they want someone to blame for distroying the economy.

3
Folignofavorite71 3 points ago +3 / -0

so how much of the 1.9 trillion actually goes to the people?

3
XCorneliusX 3 points ago +3 / -0

462 Billion would give every legal citizen a $1,400 check when calculated as 330 million people for 1400 each. That is the max presuming every person could get it. Kids cannot for example. So, to answer your question, considerable less than 25%.
