I'm always fascinated by the people in the pictures, wondering about the lives of our ancestors.

Note the teenage girl walking with her mother (bottom of pic, approaching the car) Almost as tall as her mother, but still wearing "kid clothes." Not quite old enough to "put her hair up" and dress like a grownup, she probably hated it but was too respectful to complain.

Probably the most rebellious thing she said was to timidly ask, "Mama, when can I put my hair up?" The good old days, for real.

Life was different. Expectations were different. That girl could have been a person entirely more subversive than you, and you'll never read her story.
