It’s not just the government. It’s Deep State + Wall Street.
This is part of the problem. People don’t understand that the government has been captured by the private sector. The socialist types keep imagining nonsense like the government is totally separate and will crack down on Wall Street somehow if they just elect Bernie Sanders or something. Then to make things worse for them they don’t realize that Bernie can never get elected because private sector oligarchs have captured the democrats and their primary will always be rigged from now on.
Notice the rigging started after Obama was elected. I think there were a bunch of elites who didn’t really want him elected, but they managed to keep him mostly under control. But after that they didn’t want any sort of socialist populist type ever getting elected again and made sure that didn’t happen.
Anyway, my point is that all this is actually even worse than people think. If oligarchs can compromise the government further then everyone is completely fucked, especially since the CCP has found that the easiest route to controlling the US is to compromise private oligarchs who then engage in more government capture. I dispute that it is the "vast majority". In fact I'd say it is near even or slightly in favor of those of use who have figured this out.
