Yeah. Freaking ridiculous. The people who got free money to not work all year get more and more but those of us who never stopped working get capped out for making too much while prices skyrocket.
Unemployed people have made $700 per week for the last year plus all of these relief checks. If you add it all up its 39k per year for doing literally nothing. It's insane. And if a single mom had 2 kids it would add up to nearly 50k for doing absolutely nothing all year except file for unemployment. And Biden wants to extend this another year? Makes no sense for anyone who makes less than $23 to work. Just quit and file unemployment for mental health reasons.
My company has canceled bonuses and raises the last two years and blamed covid. I wish I had been furloughed this whole time. I make too much to get the full stimulus payments but prices in Los Angeles continue to rise so we're losing money. If I had no official job, I could be doing freelance work or furthering my education while getting paid. But no... Let's punish the people who actually work.
