Yes, I totally get the comparison/criticism. The difference seams small, but it ends up been big to me.

First, the executioner doesn't interact directly the with body of the criminal. He just covers the face with a bag, pulls the lever and has to wait. Not leaving much room for additional and / or "personal" revenge.

Second, the ideal death by hanging would be dying by the "hangsman's neck fracture", which means a broken neck and "instant" death. BUT such an ideal execution depends on various factors, if they do not meet or set properly (which happens a reasonable amount of times and not necessarily bc of malice on part of the executioners), you will be dying from suffocation or internal bleeding. Since, this is a personal take, there is a wide range of things that can go wrong even when with the executioners following the instructions, it is "destiny", "karma" or "God", not men, the one deciding if it grants you the luxury of an "instant" death or something more painful.

The firing squad is less likely to fail at aiming correctly and face peeling opens the gates for clearly sadistic methods to be accepted. That's is why I made the reference of the abysm looking back at us and the line that should not be crossed.

Believe me, I really despise these fuckers for what they have done, but I try to keep my head cool to the best of my abilities.
