He said things changed. Fresh air smelled like ozone. Tea tasted like burnt wood. Craft beer tasted like water.

It was a general loss of the senses he enjoyed.

Interesting. Not saying it is, but could it be psychosomatic? I believe well over 15% of people these days lack the physiological self awareness and intellectual self defense to dismiss an authoritative assertion that they have certain symptoms , illnesses, traits etc. If a person gets "covid" and the doctors, relatives, TV, media etc all tell that person its very serious and these are the symptoms, at least 15% will believe they have them and tell people they do. IMO
