Unfortunately not the case in NY. 10 round is the limit here. Standard mag sizes, 20 and 30 rounds, are banned for common folk. If you are active military or LEO you can buy them off the shelf though. (Gun stores still do carry them).
If you are found to have one in your posession, loaded or unloaded gun or no gun, you will be carted off to prison. Not too long ago a Veteran was jammed up for having one.
10 round mags? I believe you can buy 30s because a federal judge in Commiefornia struck down the tyrannical law.
