The M1 Garand took 8 rd Enbloc clips.

30rd mags are the best though. Just make sure to have at least 100 on hand.

Big Mike knows guns. He's dead on. 8 round enblock. Though I understand prototypes were more like the M-14, but there was a fear of wasting ammo. |

US Army is seriously paranoid about wasting ammo.

I'm a proud owner of an M1 and many others.

You are right about wasting ammo. The Garand was originally chambered in .276 Pederson due to ammo portability but the US Army wanted to use up the leftovers of 30 06 from WW1 so it was re chambered.

That's true, but also the .30-06 is a really epic cartridge. Has it's own armor rating and everything.

.308 was designed to be as close to it as possible but work better in automatic weapons. They never really wanted to give up .30-06. It was love at first sight because damn, that is some serious performance.
