There's two options in Ny. Fixed mag, or featureless. It's easy enough to pop the upper off and load it for a fixed mag, and featureless stocks might be ugly, but the rifle grip isn't bad, especially if you're comfortable with bolt actions, m1a, lever actions, etc.
This same law that affects us in NY, called the NYSAFE Act, is the very blue print the Democrats will be pushing nationwide shortly, its already on deck right after HR1.
