Back on T_D there was a post about how claiming that "recent wildfires were setting records" was b.s.

As recently as October 2020 the data on this website used to go back to around the 1940s, but they have since removed everything before 1983- https://www.nifc.gov/fire-information/statistics/wildfires

I know it was that link since I shared it with a friend. The wayback machine doesn't have an archive of it.

If you have a copy of the data I would appreciate it.

I found a similar one, but it is only for forest service lands .

This article acknowledges the past by at least mentioning the 30s and 40s- https://www.hcn.org/articles/wildfires-burned-a-record-breaking-10-1-million-acres-in-2015
