About thirty years ago I ran a cheap hotel. Desk clerks made about $5, minimum was about $4. I had applicants that spelled their own name wrong on the second page of the application, I had employees who forgot to come back from lunch. I am sure the minimum wage labor pool has not improved...

About thirty years ago I ran a cheap hotel. Desk clerks made about $5, minimum was about $4. I had applicants that spelled their own name wrong on the second page of the application, I had employees who forgot to come back from lunch. I am sure the minimum wage labor pool has not improved...
Shit 15 an hour jobs or less are for kids or adults who are on hard times. Either way this is a temporary thing and it has its place. If you want a better job either work to make your career happen or just go on craigslist and look at the other options. There are plenty of jobs better than 15/hour if you are willing to do the work. Seriously.

While perhaps a flippant remark, you don't deserve the downvotes. There ARE better paying jobs out there, but they're in fields most of you probably never thought to look into. Construction. Plumbing. Electrical work. Hell, working on an oil rig. There's lots of jobs out there that pay damn sure more than $15/hr... but you have to be willing to tolerate heavy lifting. Fuck, even Amazon pays at least $18/hr for drivers in most areas... $20 in some of the metro areas. That might not exactly be an ideal job, but it's a paying gig and proves the point.
Fast food cashiers are in for a rude surprise when they never get that $15 an hour, and get fired / replaced with self order kiosks instead. And no one will complain, because the robot gets the order right and doesn't have a shitty attitude.

Taco bell, I order a meal, say i want a pepsi. They repeat it back to me with mountain dew. I say no, i want a pepsi, they acknowledge it AND change it on the screen. I pull up and get handed a mountain dew.
Burger King. "I'd like a double cheesebuger with only pickle." I get handed a. double cheeseburger with everything on it except pickle & they added bacon to it. Bacon isn't a normal topping, you have to pay extra for it. I'd understand a bit better if they mixed up only pickle with no pickle. But they added bacon to it too somehow.
