No, he's absolutely right. Posting something like that and providing a link is an implicit statement that the link is a proper source, and it wasn't. Therefor posting that, and the link with it, helps no one because it cannot be confirmed that what was said is actually true. If someone is going to post something attributed to someone they need to provide proper sources for it, or instruct the reader on where to look to get a proper 1st hand source themselves.
