Happened to a friend of mine. He was an early adopter of crypto and has several mining rigs. He lost about half a billion dollars in 2017 when the feds swooped in and shut down the exchange he was using (allegedly a RUSSIAN was using it for money laundering). It's a real shame, everything crumbled for him after that (cancer, lost his job and is now on disability, and doesn't even have money to pay for a hernia operation. Plus, I just visited his house and his roof is collapsing. Bad times.)
