I'm pretty sure your friend is a time-displaced pirate.

One thing I learned during the TX power outage was that despite being marginally successful in life it didn't help me. What helped me was some prior planning anyone could have done but they didn't. Good stock of dry goods, water, firewood and a little suitcase generator with 10 gallons of fuel and also topped off cars so another 50 gallons if needed. I could have lasted months, maybe longer.

Which is deadlier at close range? That is an interesting question. How did you disprove that blades are more dangerous up close?

I'm just trying to imagine which I'd prefer to have and which I'd prefer to face, in close quarters. I keep ending up with "I'd prefer a gun and I'd prefer to face a gun" which doesn't make a lot of sense.

I don't know that your friend will die, he sounds enthusiastic and entertaining. He'll probably find a niche where he brings enough to the table to make his way.

Fair enough.

I wouldn't have taken that as proof, combat is much too chaotic. It sounds like, it wouldn't have mattered if you had a knife or a gun, you'd have ended up with the upper hand over your friend.

Have you suggested that he learn a trade worth bartering for?

he has plenty of skills far exceeding mine, he is just a ...an eccentric person.....but in the end like i told him he is just collecting gold for the person on his block who has the biggest guns.....battle sure can be, but we were talkin about home defense more than anything.....if i was a robber, broke in at night, and was surprised by a big ass dude walking down his stairs with a claymore maybe, but chances of all that happening are.....slim

Yeah, he like so many others Re [email protected] when things break down. I’ve been shooting and training my whole life. IPSC and action shooting, hunting, Marine Corps.

I’m still not even close to a true operator. Your buddy will go in the first round with millions of other first time gun buyers that bought sensible firearms but have zero training or even willingness to use them as will become necessary.
