AMC is a fundamental, technical, and moral conundrum. I'm not a fan.
Fundamentally, theaters are closed still in 3/4 of the country, and even pre-coof were losing. A return to profitability is a long road, and dependent on Pedowood putting out movies that people want to go see.
Technically, AMC isn't in the same short squeeze panic that GME is. Hedgies can keep rolling their shorts until the price goes down. That means the market driver is more about pumping volume and less waiting for HFs to shit their britches.
Morally, by buying the stock, you're helping Chy-nuh indirectly. Once Silverlake exited, it left Dalian Wanda Group (of Beijing) as the owner and majority shareholder. If we'd all let it go bankrupt, then maybe an American company could have scooped the assets- but if not, I'd still enjoy watching another Chicom incursion fail.
I wish they do AMC.
