what does a mask have to do with any of this? Masks, even N95 are not meant to protect against infection. They are merely "spit traps" or ways to trap the mucus expelled when sneezing or coughing. They aren't meant for healthy people to wear, they are meant for sick people to wear if they have to be in public to do something or go somewhere and it's a means of trying to control them coughing or sneezing everywhere potentially infecting others. That's all it does. It is not a magic shield to prevent inhaling a virus that's floating around in the air. The weave of threads is simply too great. If the material were dense enough to block viruses, you wouldn't be able to breathe through it. Short of a full-on biolab suit, you're not preventing spread with anything commercially available, you're just wearing an analog of a security blankey and virtue signaling to others a la "we're all in this together"
Also, N94 filters particles to .4 microns... the virus was electron microscoped to be .06 - .14 microns... So they essentially using the logic of putting up a chain link fence to solve their mosquito problem...
Almost a year ago now when this mask shit started I did hours of research and managed to find a study conducted shortly after Obama and Creepy Joes Swine Flu Bungle which documented pretty well the capability of cloth masks to stop droplets and thus inhibit the spread of infections through such a vector. It was pre-china flu and following their fuck up so I feel like it isn't untrustworthy. Since reading the paper my opinion of masks is that while they work I still won't wear the damn things because I don't have to and if you're afraid then stay home. (I do wear the mask at work).
But ya know what's better than a papers or theory? Knowing that in practice the damn things didn't work.
