I don’t like anything that attacks free speech.

Former LEO here, If you really want to change policing, get rid of qualified immunity.

Not a fan of this. The left is already trying to police speech. We don’t need to join their 1984 ranks.

I hope someone calls a cop "a stupid doo doo head" and gets arrested... I want to watch that court proceeding...

lol I love that no one here apparently bothered to read this proposed bill nor to understand the legislative precedents behind it.

KY has a "fighting words" standard. As in, you can't threaten someone and expect to walk away with a settlement when they punch you.

This extends that concept to police, because (and this might be a shock apparently) we've had some incredibly violent protests here over the past year. It's now normal here to see protestors screeching the most heinous abuse imaginable at police, and there really is currently no recourse. This is, at heart, not about criminalizing speech, but about giving cops a way to hold people accountable for serious abuse that's causing them to lose authority.

... Also, it's a fucking class B misdemeanor. OH NOES NOT A TICKET FOR SCREAMING THREATS AT COPS!!! Seriously: get over yourselves, and maybe fucking worry about your own shitty state not doing jack shit to stop Pantifa.
