I was in high school when gas was $4 a gallon in 2007. When you are making <7 an hour for <25 hours a week. $40 is a lot for only 10 gallons. Many of times I was happy to have a $20 just get me close to half a tank for a few days. $40 was 7 hours of work for a high school student like me. My paycheck already took out taxes and I had to pay sales tax. These policies are terrible for the middle and lower earners in America. Not what America was founded on.
The real tax hike on the middle class. Low gas prices are a huge benefit for people earning around the poverty line.
