The largest grocery store chain in Texas updated its policy Friday, March 5, saying “mask use at our stores will remain” for shoppers, employees and vendors.

We will continue to expect shoppers to wear masks while in our stores.

Thing is, they don’t make customers wear them. A couple of the H‑E‑B Plus stores I’ve been in, make a little bit of a fuss. The store in my town, never says a word. They’ve said nothing to me, during this entire ordeal. My wife is an employee, and has to continue the mask bs. Between that, and the My Pillow fiasco, I am trading there a little less these days.

All the “good deeds” they have done in the past are now Cancelled permanently. I have never seen one of their stores ,but I for sure will not step foot in one now.

they took a lot of heat on social media, and they caved. they had originally said they were not going to require customers to wear one.

Oh then you are listing ones that do require masks.

That list covers all the grocery stores in Texas. H-E-B is the main one everywhere. :(

I’m going to try and shop at local farmers markets more for produce to get healthier food.

Curious to see how customers react. I've been going to Walmart w/o a mask for a while, so I don't think they would give you much push back.

I'm really wanting to hear someone's Whole Foods experience. I went into the store w/o a mask and the Karen worker at the front door ran inside to tell her manager on me. Since then, I just tell them I can't wear a mask due to a medical condition. Wondering if they'll still ask.

yeah, it is amazing how many people are bitching and crying about this.

If they want to wear a mask, they are free to do so. They just need to shut the hell up about it. Every county leader here, and city mayors cried about it.

Kroger? Albertsons? Central Market? Aldis? I wouldn't be surprised if they cucked, too, though.

Central Market is owned by HEB. Source: lived there for almost 20 years.

Kroger is still requiring them. HEB owns Central Market, so I would assume they will follow whatever HEB puts in place. Not sure about Albertson's or Aldi.

If y'all think more than just a few random local businesses will drop the mandate you're gonna have a bad time ....

They cave because the screaming minority is way louder than we are. If we mounted anywhere near the pressure the left did we'd have a very different corporate culture in this country than we do right now.

Throughout this whole masking bullshit here in Texas I've notice way too many of us capitulating because we don't want to cause a stink or make people uncomfortable. I can guarantee that courtesy will never be extended by the left.

I've refused to wear a mask because 1) I've read the studies, the facts are on my side. 2) I'm free and no one has the right to tell me how to breathe.

I've had plenty of misinformed authoritarian idiots get on my case but I'm at the point where I don't care anymore. You get used to it after a while. You have to stand up and never give in. If we can't do this small thing to stand up for ourselves then we are truly fucked. Because they are never going to stop taking from us otherwise.

I work there, to be fair we're still taking down all the social distancing signs and we don't even have a guy at the door telling people to wear masks. All we are told to do is "encourage", its pissed off tons of Karen's buuuut thats about as far as our "mandate" has gone.

That is good to hear. This week is really going to be interesting to see how things work out.
