There were some interesting motions that were approved and considered today in the trial.

1. Baden and Wilson autopsies will not be put into the trial. Neither of them will testify. The only autopsies to be used are Hennepin County and the Federal government. The fed one is the only one that mentions asphyxiation.

2. The court has decided that they will not use terms like victim and accused, etc by witnesses. That means anyone taking the stand will not be allowed to call Chauvin a murderer or Floyd a victim. The terms allowed will be Floyd and Chauvin.

3. The judge is taking under consideration a former motion that was denied about an incident with an arrest for Floyd in 2019. In that incident Floyd was pulled over, the police officer had to pull his gun because Floyd would not place his hands on the wheel. At that time Floyd ingested the pills he was carrying, and then told the cops he took drugs. He overdosed and was taken to the hospital in that instance. If you have watched the full video, it runs almost the same way as the pull over in 2020. The new discovery that the defense had is that they found pills in the console in Floyds car that contained methamphetamine and fentanyl, there were also stains on the police SUV that also contained methamphetamine and fentanyl and Floyd’s DNA. They were stains from spit and chewed up pills. This would prove the defense theory that Floyd took the drugs to hide them from the police just like he did in 2019, and that the death is more due to a drug overdose than asphyxiation.

4. They are going to try to seat the jury while the upper courts decide on the inclusion of 3rd degree murder. It was dismissed at the beginning and the prosecution wants it decided before the case begins, however with jury selection taking about 3 weeks, the judge and the defense do not want to delay, so the jury selection will start tomorrow.
