Unless you're living like a monk or in a jungle, every person and political system in the world is motivated by capital. It's not perfect because humans are imperfect, but it's still the best system we've come up with so far. The reality is there will always be someone smarter, more motivated, who works harder and has better connections. That's just the way the world is, and no amount of redistribution will change that. All that accomplishes is to drive away investors and innovation. Why work extra hard to get ahead when someone else will reap the fruits of your labor? That's a recipe for resentful mediocrity.
What do you do when those with capital decide they're not interested in maintaining the system? Because that's where we are now. The nation needs to be put ahead of capital. Obviously, that's a problem in "nations" like America than can only barely be called an actual nation. "A nation of ideas" my ass, you can see where that's gotten us right now.

The top 1% of earners in this country pay 40% of all taxes. The top 50% pay 97%. How much more do you think they should be taxed before you think it's 'fair'? What systems do they have control of that they're failing to maintain? You're barking up the wrong tree, because your issue is a failure of government, not private business. And who does the responsibility of maintaining government fall upon? The people. Aaand we're full circle.
How much wealth does the top 1% own? 30.4%. So paying 40% of taxes sounds pretty fair, especially when, again, they will never be able to spend all their wealth in a lifetime. But the bottom 50% own 1.9%, which makes them overtaxed there in proportion to their wealth as well. Private business controls the people through media and the politicians through bribes, so the failure of government is because of private business.
The voters are just as controlled by capital. Look at MSM. That's why capitalists love democracy.
