life in prison is about 10x cheaper than execution.
If you are at a point where execution is considered, you are already in prison for life. So we are not talking about costs of trials before that. You said it's 10 times cheaper to incarcerate and feed them for LIFE while they are barred from productivity than to execute them.
So either keeping them alive and incarcerated is dirt cheap, or executions are unbelievably much more expensive than necessary.
Sure technically execution is a life sentence but not of your natural life.
And the latter is true, executions are incredibly expensive due to the number of appeals and court trials that need to take place before said execution. Not to mention the increasing challenge of obtaining the correct drugs required.
Most of the time executions are just life sentences that have their costs increased dramatically due to the legal process that needs to be undertaken when deciding the fate of a human life.
Taking into account that most sentences to execution are overturned and that you will eventually kill an innocent person, the death penalty just doesnt make any sense.
Which is ridiculous. Hell, I'll execute a pedo with my machetes in 10 seconds for free. Where comes the cost from?! Ridiculous.
Let the government handle shit, and watch how costs explode and efficiency is minuscule.
Gotta prove the NSA didn’t plant evidence on their PC.
The cost comes from every single person's right to a fair trial including all the appeals that come along with that.
Even with that we still get it wrong sometimes which is unacceptable.
