When my grandmother's Alzheimer's was progressing it was almost like you could see it in her eyes when she had a memory lapse. There was this empty, hollow look to them that continued getting worse until eventually it never went away.
The sad thing is once the disease progresses much past where Joe is now, they start getting violent. We have a Secret Service agent getting bit by his dog. In another two months we'll have one getting bit by Joe.

And why do I get the feeling he may not even do well on a simple cognitive test, when he's already been shown to not necessarily know what city he's in or confused in his immediate surroundings?
