They don't give a fuck about the environment or the climate.
It's a tool to drive fear. When people are scared, they want something to swoop in and protect them. They're willing to give up their own freedom and rights for the illusion of safety.
This isn't new. The Nazi's were REALLY good at this. After 9/11, we saw this repeat.

You know who loved Nazi's? Ford. You know Ford was a Democrat? You know Hitler had a huge painting of Ford hung behind his desk in his personal office? You know all the companies that were trading with Germany even when there was a full embargo on them were Democrat? You know the south during the Civil War was Democrat? You know the majority of slave holders in the US were Democrat?
