Well, that's not exactly true. The notion of self perception of gender isn't proven. It could be a delusion, in the same vein as schizophrenics believing they are Jesus Christ. In addition, while we do know that the one's that transition have brains that are morphologically more female, we also know that the one's that don't have brains that look more male, and could just have autogynophilia.
You just shot a hole in your case, if they have more female brains then it makes sense to give them more feminine bodies. And vice versa, since y'all seem to forget that some women believe they are male.
Not really, just because you feel like you're female, doesn't mean you are female. Transitioning doesn't make them female, it only makes them approximate the female form, which is why they kill themselves at just as high a rate as before transitioning. What they actually need is therapy that will help them learn to accept that they aren't female, and can never become female, even if it's not possible to stop them from wanting to be female. This is not a "pray away the gay" type scenario, this is helping fix a delusion (clinically speaking, not colloquially) they have.
