I remember reading an article about this that using white colored parts makes it easier to spot leaks or stress fractures. I have no idea if that is true.

it is. every detail is planned in technology, yes, things can be cheaper with some finishes, but in this case white is beneficial as hydraulic fluid is red and hard to see on black and any deformation of the frame is easier to spot with white than black which can hide cracks etc...

Also white doesn’t absorb heat, an issue with electronics.
