I Walked into an Ace today and not 8 feet inside before I was spotted by a hovering elderly employee and was asked...

Her: "Sir? Sir! could I persuade you to put on a mask?"

Me: "No, thanks"

Her: "Sir I..."

Me: *sigh* "Is it required of me in order to spend my money here?"

Her: "Yes, sir. It is"

Me: "Ok then"

And pivoted and walked right out.

It was a polite encounter to be sure, but one I won't tolerate nonetheless. There is enough information out there now -- and has been for a long time -- that makes this sort of encounter utterly ridiculous by any business.

I could've sworn it was an almost accepted universal across-the-board policy companies have taken that employees NOT confront a customer regarding the status of their mask as it could lead to a very dangerous situation (you never know who you're dealing with) or 2. could just be a medical issue and what right do you have to confront someone about their medical conditions?

I AM allergic to bullshit after all and it's a very sensitive topic. /sniffle/

I've spent a lot of money at Ace over the years but no more. I hate to do it but I know the big box ones have an absolute policy that you are not under any circumstance to confront/ask/point out/etc... anything mask related with regard to a customer.

Pity.

Best,

And if you have a medical exemption they try to force you into a face shield. 👎👎

Some places have outright banned those though because they finally acknowledged that the shields do literally nothing. Can just claim an allergy to the plastic used in the headband.
