One of my favorite Catholic radio Priests said a few months ago, " We live in a society that will tolerate anything, but forgives nothing."

Our world obsessed with "love" (lust) is actually a world filled with hatred. It is refreshing to remember what true love looks like.

John 15:12–14

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.

Christ calls us friends. He laid down his life for those who believe and follow after him. Let's follow after him, loving our enemies that they might repent as well and live.

"I will show you how you must suffer for my name's sake." Quoting from memory rather than the actual verse about what Jesus told Saul (later renamed Paul) on the road to Damascus. God's blessings generally come with a downside, to give opportunity to prove the genuineness of one's faith.
