I never understood why people idolized a group of elites who do nothing to earn their wealth, hate peasants and wont marry them except in rebellion, live in castles paid for by the peasants and who believe they are more important than everyone else because of their dna.

It must be some form of stockholm syndrome.

I think it's the same reason why people like their football teams. It's their royals, or their team. If you look at it objectively though, it doesn't make sense. It's not rational.

At least a football team provides something of value...entertainment. They are overpaid for sure but the they do work for their money unlike royals. Royals are paid to be snobs. I guess turning up your nose requires some effort.

A better analogy would be US politicians.

I mean, there were good members of the royalty if you read history long enough. But the reason why we threw away the dynastic system of monarchy is because they weren't accountable to the people. A Republic is supposed to be better, but sadly we've lost our republic and are little better than the monarchies of old.

I'm so out of the loop, I saw the headline "Queen hits back," and thought they meant the band.
