Another option is to move to Texas and live in the suburbs outside of the cities, most of which are red. There is so much space in Texas that the cities sprawl out pretty far. You'll get the benefits of being near major transportation hubs and job opportunities. You get the benefit of being a Texan too, such as no state income tax.
