I don't understand what you think came from here.... it's pretty fucking simple to grab the tower information, find out what phones pinged that day, and then look up who owns those phones....
After that, if you have no operational security for your online presence, then it's literally fucking child's play to figure out your online accounts from there......
Not necessarily any rats. They got a warrant and simply either seved a subpoena with a shut-the-fuck-up notice to the owners of this site or used a backdoor to access the database that stores all of our messages. No flash-bangs, no guns blazing, no Hollywood BS. Simple exfil of data using a subpoena or known backdoor via a warrant that was based on some patriot act provision.
The sad thing is that these agents actually believe they are defending America. They think that somehow, harassing Americans who have done nothing wrong while not batting an eye as our cities are burnt to the ground is helping.
My guess is that most of them came of political age under Clinton or Bush and have no clue what this country is about. They get their opinions from comedy central and Twitter. Sad really.
