As someone who is chad fluid I can say this. In my times when I was on a hot streak I would be on a roll. If I slept with someone a cut above the rest, all my game went out the window. Usually this would lead to me running the wrong plays and losing what made me attractive to her in the first place. Returning to regular girls (5-7 range) I’d have this feeling of downgrading which as a competitive man is never good. Once you lose that head space it can be really tough to get back. I’m sure many chads feel this way. Especially the ones that end up divorced. Despite being ‘successful’ on paper, they weren’t successful when it mattered so it feels like failure all the same. Over many years it can be relatable to making the play offs many times but never winning a championship. I don’t know what this has to do with being gay. The situation you speak of is best left to the folly of youth, if at all. At some point you may want someone forever instead of whenever. And you may end up being the one-night-stand guy when you want something more. And you may hurt the one who has been there for you by chasing mysteries instead.
Youth is the best time to make mistakes, but you may realize that it was a lot of mistakes that you wish you would have avoided.
This!! I've stayed friends with 2 guys I dated previously who have done this. Spent their entire life playing the field and realized one day that they are no longer as attractive as they were and everyone else they knew is married and happy with a family. I've had a lot of "luck with the ladies". Phenomenally. Sadly. It creeps up on you over time, like you described with the effect of watching the same porn and becoming bored. But unlike escalation on to more degenerate things, it's more like a natural instinct/drive burns out in you.
