The Bible is all allegory pertaining to the development of the spirit and mind. It's quasi historical so the low level thinkers would take it literally and preserve their "history." God never slaughtered the Egyptian firstborn or did any of the vile things the OT ascribes to Him.
Look at Jeremiah 7:22 in KJV, Greek Interlinear, and NIV. The verses contradict between KJV and NIV. Interlinear text shows the NIV added words to try and take people's minds away from what was plainly stated. God never commanded sacrifices. All the OT stuff in Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy is to be taken internally and spiritually. This is what the Essenes believed and John the Baptist and Jesus were both Essenes.
Jesus and Paul called the human body the temple of God. That wasn't a new truth. That means God never cared squat about a physical temple of stone and never lived there and never commanded people to sacrifice. It's the animal nature within us we are supposed to sacrifice on the internal altar. Carnal minded people externalized the symbolism and devolved into a bloody abomination.
Joshua is the English translation of Yeshua which erroneously is translated Jesus. Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised Land in the OT. This is to be taken spiritually. God never put the Israelite people before any other people. Joshua/Jesus in the NT leads the (spiritual) Israel into the internal kingdom of God (Promised Land). Jesus said the kingdom of God is within us. There will never be heaven on earth as Christians believe, cuz it's about the coming of Christ within you and rebirth on the inside.
The OT and NT are the same, just updated symbolism dealing with the 7 spiritual centers of the body and the 12 spheres of mind comprising the Tree of Life. The temple and it's symbols and rituals were an external thing about the inner reality inside of us.
Paul in Romans said God gave us nature to understand Him. When it's understood the majority of the pagan religions started out monotheistic and then devolved into polytheism it is realized that Divine sparks of light came into the world across every culture and people, but people without spiritual insight took the symbolisms the mystics used to portray higher knowledge and made them into the objects of worship themselves. Thus monotheism turned polytheism to the carnal people.

Reality is a lot more complex than we think. There is a God, but He/She is alot more compassionate and patient than most realize. There is no hell, there is reincarnation of the spirit and confronting similar scenarios from life to life until we finally get it right and mature. God's into reform and not eternal punishment.
lol I'm not even Christian. I know there's irrational stuff in the Bible. I just think Christianity teaches better values than social justice. Most of the prominent atheists are liberal and attack Christianity because it's not liberal enough for their tastes. If you're really a conservative and want to succeed in the culture war, don't punch right. The [actual conservative, non-pozzed] Christians can be a good allies. Attacking the Bible only fractures the ranks and hurt our cause.
You make sure to mention the parts about incest and being hung like a donkey with emissions like a horse?
Old Testament?
That’s the “before” picture.

No need
Jesus reduced it to just 2

What are you doing with your life? Imagine being a disappointment to everyone. Sad.
Imagine downvoting someone for posting what is in the book you believe to be the word of god.
I'm an atheist, champ.
Wasn't talking specifically about you, sorry it came across that way, bae.
I'm pretty sure you don't augment Western Civilization.

Like a liberal, can't attack the content of the argument. Instead jumping to personal attacks because feelings. Nice work.
