I think it's totalitarian to kill someone who hasn't harmed anyone else. Morality and patriotism agree with me.

You seem to be justifying immoral behavior because of the laws that were written. Sure, it was legal for that cop to kill that guy. But let's not pretend it's not an infringement of human rights.

For future reference: My dude... laws should be derived from morality. Morals shouldn't be derived from government laws. Have a think about it...

Would it be ok if I put a single bullet in a revolver, spun the cylinder, pointed it at a random person and pulled the trigger so long as the firing pin doesn't strike the primer? Cause that's essentially the argument you are making.

Name checks out. No, that's not "essentially the argument" he's making. The argument he's making is that "driver of black truck" made the choice to endanger himself and others; the police had the choice to let him keep doing that, let him go and hope he didn't keep doing that, or end the chase. End the chase was the right call; driver of black truck had every opportunity to stop his stupid, fucking reckless ass, but didn't. Problem solved. It's unfortunate that he died; his own goddamned fault. It's lucky no one else did.

OP was fairly clear right from the very title that his position is that the police should have given up pursuit immediately. My analogy was to simply illustrate that sure, the driver of the black truck may not have killed anyone, but had the police not taken the actions that they did. The likelihood of an innocent bystander being injured/killed grows exponentially with each passing second.

Additionally, once the police attempted to make the traffic stop and the man fled. The police can only assume the man is fleeing for a more serious reason then "he didn't want a ticket."

Simply letting the guy go would be like waking up in the middle of the night because you heard a noise, going to your living room to see someone unhooking your TV and saying, "eh, fuck it, I'm going back to bed."
