The kids don't really miss the academic side of school but all those social opportunities in the classroom, the games, sports, and fun of school is hard to replace. Parents fought like crazy to keep the screens in check and during the pandemic we caved because there was nothing else to do. You can only play Monopoly and go on nature walks for so long.

Such a narrow view of schooling, parenting, and life. If monopoly and nature walks are all you can think of, may e sit down and take a good hard look at your life in general and how you structure your family. Make use of every opportunity, in your home, in your yard, in your community, with like minded neighbors. We personally made use of a good 4H club, many opportunities to learn there. Use your yard to garden and raise small animals if you can.

Make the effort, it takes ti.e and sacrifice, but your family will be much better off, with many good useful skills.

Schools never have provided a good atmosphere for socialization.

The only place that people encounter another social setting like that of a public school is in jail and prison. Everything about school socialization is artificial, involuntary, and contrary to the prevailing norms of human societies throughout history.

It’s little wonder that separating children from their parents, family, neighbors, & real friends, dropping them into a locked-down environment consisting only of equal-age random peers and public sector union bureaucrats, and exposing them to corporate committee produced leftist indoctrination, ‘zero-tolerance’ brutish micromanagement, no-recourse bullying risk, and Byzantine interference with every aspect of ‘extra-curricular’ activity and parental interactions creates a culture of shallow and vapid ‘popularity contest’ tyranny, an educational wasteland, and an emotional pit of ideotic conformism, pointless rebellion, depression, hopelessness, thuggery, dependence, and physical abuse.

“In every instance, these parents attribute the alienation of their child(ren) from their (the parents') values to the college and, increasingly, the high school their child attended.

Moreover, not only are these children alienated from their parents' values, but they are often also alienated from the parent(s). One thing you learn when you become left-wing is to have contempt for those who hold other beliefs.

Had these parents known how their children would turn out, they would never have sent them to college — or even to the high school they attended. It appears, however, that no matter how many people lose their children's hearts and minds to left-wing indoctrination, and no matter how much information accumulates about the perversion of education in American schools, parents continue to take risks with their children they would never take in any other sphere.”

chopblock -- that is the deep dark secret of public education. You could learn everything you need to learn in half the amount of time and the socialization is not the socialization that is healthy and constructive. But without the financial security of home schooling, we are forced with this situation. But it really important to point this out but as with anything there is big money behind it as the Teacher's Union has pointed out this past year.
Thanks for the knowledge

Unschoolers — kids who undertake NO formal instruction or curriculum of any kind, and simply go about learning things they are self-motivated to research, test within a single grade level of their public school age peers.

Home schoolers do significantly better.

There aren’t any solutions to fix public schooling, any more than there are solutions to fix communism. They were set up as a culture destruction system from the get-go (First Native American Indian tribes’ culture, and then non-factory-work American independent ‘hand-crafting’ culture, then others...)

The unschooler data shows that if we abolished it we’d be no worse off as far as student outcomes, and we’d save trillions of dollars we’re wasting on maintaining a pretend fantasy that this relic artificial system is some kind of pillar for maintaining our civilization, when it’s actually a key factor in our destruction.

Trillions that could be spend delivering free internet learning to every child, and a huge private marketplace for learned instruction. We could be living the idealized dream of every Greek scholar with a ‘library of Alexandria’ containing every book ever written at our fingertips and the best private tutors for any subject on demand, but instead we’re putting transgendered imbeciles into women’s locker rooms to play injuryball, locking children into prison home rooms for the best part of their lives, and censoring everything except monetized product unpackaging videos and video-game livestreams like the brawndo-swilling simpletons of Idiocracyall because brainwashed boomers tear up when they think back to kissing their first girlfriend behind the gym stands.

MCMAGA -- This is the long term impact that will impact thousands of kids. The mental health thing is one thing (this is really a money thing) but the kids have become fearful. Next scare all these kids will fall in line and not question it. Sleeves will roll up, masks will go on, and they won't question it.

I think you are right there and when that last generation who lived in the 70s,80s and the 90s, you will have sheep from top to bottom.

The winter is a killer. We did alright until it got too cold for the park or outings. We’ve had a few warm days and that’s been so good for them. We are still nowhere near as bad off as some of these kids who have just been on their own for months. Parents work (or don’t really care). Food is scarce. Kids that live in abusive homes have no one to help. The people who are keeping these schools closed are evil and I seriously hope they rot in hell.

Same, went on a nice walk with my dog and he did not have a lease on and some woke individual was freaking out that my little cocker spaniel was breaking the rules. Technically, yes I was breaking the rules but it is a huge park but the way this guy, a man, acted was just shocking to me. Act like a man and not a scared little bird and drop the hand waving gestures and I would have acted accordingly. It takes about 30 seconds to see if a dog is mean or not so don't act like a big wuss. Maybe I'm too old school but the words came out of my mouth I just couldn't stop from saying and I think he called 911 or something but there were no cops at the end of my walk.

That's why I never mince words when it comes to relaying these stories to my kids, just say it like it is and I give the disclaimer that is dad's opinion but kids are kids and they will adopt my view through osmosis. If that makes me a bad parent than I'm a bad parent and I call it like I see it.

Have a good day SpaceG84

Im so thankful that my 1 and 3 year old aren’t affected by this type of thing. Hopefully they won’t have any memory of it.

Hur dur high school socializing is important. Have you been in a school in the last 20 fucking years? It’s a prison filled with shitbag adults and retarded normie kids. I didn’t get shit from socializing when I was in that prison, and i fucking doubt anyone is getting anything useful now other than learning how to be a whore.

Public schools are complete trash

Yea, I've unfortunately been in a lot of them the past 20 years and there are good and bad to everything. Some of the worst schools produce the best kids and vice versa. These spoiled rich white kids in these affluent district are the evil spawn of what is corroding up from the top not the poor rapper wantabees that look bad and commit crimes but not like those white kids who write the laws and commit the white collar crimes. It's easy to see those black kids in a negative light but based on my own personal experience the white kids are way more disrespectful and know how to exploit a situation to personally hurt you.

But that is the whole goal of the media. Present black and brown people as bad and a product of the public school system but in reality they do produce some good people just wanting a chance to improve their lives just like us.

Peace fren
