The End of American Democracy? The Democrats’ sweeping election reform bill, known as HR1, passed in the U.S. House of Representatives last week. It will force every state to allow cheating in future elections. It will suppress freedom of speech. It will allow intimidation and harassment of Americans for their political views. And it will require Americans to submit reports to the government, any time they criticize elected officials. It's called the "For the People Act", but a more accurate title would be the "Against the People Act". This will be a fatal blow to America's democracy, if the Republicans allow it to pass in the Senate. Let's hope enough Americans citizens will see the danger, and ask their politicians to vote against this extremely dangerous bill.

"if the Republicans allow it to pass in the Senate"

If that happens, their party is as good as dead. None of them supported it in the House, so hopefully same here.

(I don't know if this will change but) thank GOD that Manchin, out of nowhere, insists on keeping the filibuster (along with another D senator from Arizona, although I think Manchin feels more strongly about it). If that's not a miracle, I don't know what is.

I'm still puzzled over Manchin insisting on keeping the filibuster if it's known that only Republicans benefit from the filibuster at this point.

Excerpt:

"I'm not willing to take away the involvement of the minority," Manchin also said about changing the filibuster rule. "I'm not going to go there until my Republican friends have the ability to have their say also. ... I’m hoping they will get involved to the point where we have 10 of them that will work with 50 of us."
