Out of all developed first world countries, the U.S. definitely has the highest rates of gun violence. Some parts of the U.S. like Louisiana aren't even that far from having the same rates as countires like Colombia. This post makes no sense to me
If you take away the BLACK ON BLACK VIOLENCE of FUCKING FIVE cities in the U.S. we literally have the FOURTH FUCKING LOWEST RATE OF GUN VIOLENCE in the entire fucking world. Are you serious right now bro?
I am well aware of the racial disparity in U.S. gun violence. My comment was in reference to this post claiming that gun violence is worse in the rest of the world which is just an ignorant and poorly formed take.
The vast majority of U.S. gun violence is an anomaly, focused almost exclusively to Democrat controlled urban minority areas, largely due to gang and drug violence. The entire rest of the U.S. has crime rates comparable to the safest areas of Europe. The only reason those issues aren't already fixed is because Democrats don't want to fix them, and need to perpetuate the race hustle to keep themselves in power.
Pretty sure 90% of the policies that the progressive left are pushing would benefit black people and black communities. Decriminalizing soft drugs, sending money specifically to black businesses and black farmers, making it easier for them to get into college, making sure they're included on the boards of major companies, etc...
What's the point of comparing U.S. gun violence to the most impoverished and wartorn parts of the world? It's a false comparison. If you compare the U.S. to other countries of a similar level of development, we have insanely high gun crime rates.
There is no country that has similar level of development of the US. None!
No country operates as a group of United States and a constitutional republic founded on the rights of the individual.
The US has vastly different characteristics throughout its geography. Not just geographically but culturally, politically, demographically, etc. The diverse nature of our country cannot be compared to other countries as a whole. The comparison is idiotic. It makes far more sense to compare different parts of the US to other parts of the US & world.
There are a few neighborhoods which account for a huge proportion of the gun crime in the US. The dynamics happening in those neighborhoods are very different than those in other US neighborhoods. Painting g the entire US with the brush of those neighborhoods is the same logical fallacy as painting all people of a particular race with the brush of a few deviant people in that race.
I get what you are saying, but the entirety of western civilization owes its continued existence to the United States(and the UK) post 1939. As a freedom loving people, we are willing to accept some measure of gun violence being committed by random individuals, for the freedoms it affords us as a citizen body. No other country is willing to take that trade-off. The Soviet Union had very little gun violence.
While America’s rate of suicide by gun is much higher than gun-controlled Canada (53% vs 16%), the suicide rate in Canada is actually slightly higher than the U.S. The rate of U.S. suicides is 11 per 100,000. In Canada, it’s 11.5 per 100,000. The biggest difference is method. Hanging/suffocation and poisoning are the preferred methods in the provinces.

I don't know the answer here, it's an honest question:
Do other countries also count suicides in their gun death totals?
Edit to add:
I'm trying to find the answer. So far, looks like we have much higher suicide by gun than other countries. Not higher suicide in general, just by gun.
Following quote from: https://www.awwba.com/suicides-included-gun-violence-data/
Certain populations in this country do commit extreme amounts of gun violence.
We'd be more akin to Finland without those groups.
That's great but we do have those groups and they're Americans the same as you or I.
