First of all, the last secession was anything but peaceful. Secondly, what makes you think the left would ever tolerate red states peacefully seceding from the union? What "last secession" are you talking about? British leaving India? USSR breakup? Yugoslavia? Czechoslovakia? East Timor? South Sudan? Brexit?
I hope USA is civilized enough to resemble the most non-violent of those recent examples. They cannot justify spilling blood of peaceful secessionists any more than they could justify invading Canada, and we're quite capable of defending ourselves if needed.
