I think a balanced budget amendment could have prolonged the survival of our Republic. Allowing government to indebt itself by trillions of dollars further enslaved us to foreign powers and sacrificed our sovereignty.
It was the young boomers who started the hippie movement and kept democrats in power. Democrats have controlled Washington since the 60s with Republicans retaking power a few times.
Republican presidents rarely served a second term so they didn't vote that well. The biggest voting generation is made up by the boomers. They do receive a lot of unnecessary hate. The generation that followed them didn't do much to help. They gave us participation trophies and a shit economy.
Gen Z doesn't vote but they are the most vocal on social media. The dumb issues they appear to care about are inflated. Five people tweet about something and media will have a story about the new Gen Z trend.
God help us once they get older. The boomers got more conservative as they got older. The DNC platform in the 60s looks like the current republican platform now. Gen Z is starting so far left, thanks to schools and the median that we may never see a shift to sanity until it's too late.
