It's a strange dichotomy for a Catholic pede. The French Revolution as well as American Revolution were products of "enlightenment". Progressivism is simply a continuation, or overextension of this "enlightment". Enlightenment is nothing more really then licentiousness. True freedom is quite different. It is choice. Man has free will in that he can choose. Freedom, unfortunately, is often misinterpreted as licentiousness.
