I'm one of the few around here that actually takes covid really seriously (unfortunately). I seem to get downvoted into oblivion every time that I do take covid really seriously. But I just wanted to say that you bring up some really important points.

Like.... I'm not dead today because I felt totally comfortable wandering into a first med place for something that I would describe as a 2 out of 10 on the pain meter. I can take much more pain than that, but my brain tossed out a weird red alert and I really couldn't feel calm until I went in. They caught my cancer really early and I'm fine.

Like.... I think about all the people that are scared to leave their house.... none of them are listening to their brain's red alerts? I think about all the people that are alone and depressed and lockdown is literally killing them. It doesn't mean I'm downplaying covid, but what you're saying here... it needs to be said more.

I worry for my kids that can't play with their friends on the playground and wtf this is doing to them and how many of them are going to have anxiety disorders from this.

Anyways, long winded way of saying "thanks for posting this".

covid is serious. the flu is serious. seat belts are serious. side walks are serious. personal freedoms are serious.

Covid is more serious than the flu.

But that said, I'm with you on personal freedoms. I really think we should have left this up to individual businesses. If a supermarket chain wants to require masks, good for them. If they don't, good for them. Everyone can vote with their dollars. Same for restaurants running at full capacity, half capacity or takeout only. We could have done this with 2/3 less meddling from the government.

I had covid, and it was pretty mild for me. Most of the time I could've passed as not sick. I worked 5 days, before realizing I might have it. Then I just happened to be scheduled off and got tested that day. I think the worst symptom was fatigue. I lost the ability to smell too. On day 14 of symptoms, I had trouble breathing. I've had rare bouts of trouble breathing since I was a kid, but now it seems to be happening a lot, especially if I don't sleep enough.
