Nobody discovered anything, she got the credit because she did the most contribution to the code that photographed the actual black hole. Nobody gives a shit if you're a chick, that doesn't give you fuck anything in the regards of what someone with an actual brain did. Hopefully you're pretty, because you seem like a jaded moron.
That girl didn’t contribute the most code to that project by the way. It was another boy in that group who wrote almost the entirety of the code, the girl just happened to also be in the group with that young man and he let her take the credit. It was a pretty big stink at the time. Not insinuating there are no great female scientists, just that specific example you cited may have not been the best example.
I would encourage you to be informed before making claims. Katie Bouman performed a tiny fraction of the work compared to her male counterparts, and even said so at the time. She was not the one making it into some huge women in STEM deal.
That chick didn’t discover it. She just got the credit bc that’s what was cool at the time.
Signed, a chick

Yeah says the dipshit that tried to use 'mah gender' as proof of anything.

The chick that "wrote the code" wrote roughly 50,000 lines.
The lead programmer on the project, a dude, wrote 650,000.
Define "most contribution"
The person that the 200+ team of scientists, astrologists and coders that actually did the work say deserve it.
