Yep, it's too bad, I watched one of his stand-up comedy specials once, hoping for a little more Ron Swanson swagger, but nope. Major disappointment. Turned it off about ten minutes in.
He, as well as the character, are desperately unfunny caricatures of what one would imagine the uber American macho mustache guy to be. I've always found him, as well as the character he portrays, to be total douche lords.

If it's the same guy it's Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation. The character is a huge Libertarian that has never seen a government program he doesn't want to do away with. In real life he's a statist.
