The baby boomers fucked this country up with temper tantrums in the 60s and 70s because their parents made their lives too easy to the point they rebelled because they had nothing to really fight except, arguably, actual racism, which ended up destroying black families anyway. Then in the 80s they did EVERYTHING for themselves, future be damned...
Now gen X, Y, and Z have been progressively more fucked than any generations before them because of the selfishness and shortsightedness of the one born after World War 2 and the Korean War.

Not all millenials have Gen X parents, believe it or not less people popped out kids they werent ready for in the 80s. My mom was 28 and my dad was 44 in 1984 when they got pregnant with me.
Now my wife, she's a later millennial and her parents definitely weren't ready for her...but she still turned out well. These problems are precisely on baby boomers who were too busy raising massive families to notice the commies, the bra burners, the socioanarchists, and the NWo seizing power around them. If they have had less kids (maybe 2 tops) perhaps they could have gotten involved in politics locally across the country and rooted out the beginning or "progressivism"
